Autumn in the Algarve

Autumn in the Algarve

There’s nothing quite as restorative as an autumn holiday and the chance to get some welcome warmth and sun before winter – so here are some great reasons why the Algarve is the perfect Autumn destination for you and your family

September and October are perfect months to visit - the crowds have gone and the weather’s still wonderful!

There are plenty of reasons why you should consider staying in the Algarve during autumn season.

Flights from the UK are short and much cheaper comparing to summer season. So imagine leaving the UK after lunch and having a romantic dinner at a seafood restaurant in the beach by candle light!

There’s also less traffic on the roads so your trip from Faro Airport will be quicker and when you get to your destination, whether it’s a villa in the eastern Algarve town of Tavira or an apartment in the central Algarve golfing resorts of Quinta do Lago or Vale do Lobo, you’ll feel nicely refreshed from your journey.

The temperatures are in the mid- to high 20s in the shade, and often get up to the mid-30s in the sun. The sea’s temperature is still warm enough to swim in, crouds are gone and the golden sandy beaches will be quiet, great for long, relaxing walks. Villages and towns have returned to their true character; cafes, bars and restaurants are quieter and availability in terms of accomodation is increased.

Though summer season has ended, there’s still a great choice of fun family watersports to enjoy, including windsurfing, kite-surfing, wakeboarding and kayaking. The weather is perfect for biking, hiking and exploring - plus the countryside enjoys a second springtime, with the return of greenery and wildflowers.

If you're a wave hunter and looking for big, small, long or short waves, there's a long list of surf beaches that offer waves for all levels. There’s also a tempting array of secret spots waiting to be discovered by intrepid surf explorers... Take a drive to the west coast and you'll have an experience you'll never forget.

Ria Formosa Natural Park is the autumn home for up to 20,000 water birds and, if you like birdwatching, this is the best place and time of the year to do so.

If you're into tennis and golf, the lower temperatures will make it the perfect time and golf fees are lower in some courses.

So with autumn providing such a warm weather and with such a huge variety of things to do and see, why not consider buying that flight ticket and enjoy a vacation on this 300-days-a-year sunny paradise? And why not buying your own home away from home in one of the safest place in Europe?
