Brexit - Stay says May

3.2 million European's whose UK residency status is currently in question may be allowed to stay in the UK after Brexit. Those already in the country legally, and who remain for five years, without a criminal or security related offences, would benefit from a 'settled status', as per Theresa May's proposal.

A proposal contingent on the same conditions being offered to British citizens living in the EU.

Brexit negotion talks have begun at the Brussels summit and dependant on EU states agreeing. Some leaders are already showing signs this is a 'good start' while others are taking a cooler approach. May's appraoach seems to be one of wanting to keeping families together and establishing a level of stability for all concerned.
