    We decided to look for an overseas property in September 2017 and arranged viewings with some agents in October. We found out the awkward way that, unlike the market in UK, the overseas markets are ‘open’ in as much as any agent can sell any property and the commission is shared between the principal agent and the agent that finds the ultimate purchaser.  We were offered viewings of the same properties by several agents and a dozen viewings dwindled to a handful. It was frankly an embarrassing and unproductive experience.  We then saw an advert for a seminar held by Ideal Homes and attended that in January 2018. Having chosen our preferred areas (in 2 countries) we were put in touch with dedicated agents that would guide and advise us. We arranged and combined 4 trips of holidays and viewings and were shown about 40 properties. The agents were knowledgable and thorough. We made an offer in August and completed in September 2018 and now have a lovely second home in Spain.    Since the offer was accepted we have received support in every aspect from legals to currency exchange, maintenance to furnishings, translation etc.  We thoroughly recommend Ideal Homes to anyone considering buying an overseas property.

    I wanted to take the opportunity to thank Debbie Kirk and her handling of the sale of the Windmill in Sao Marcos de Serra. We were very impressed with Debbie's efficient organisation of the sale from start to finish. When I first met Debbie at the Birmingham Motorcyle Museumm, at the start of the year, we hadn't even considered Portugal as a country to live and now we own a windmill! Debbie has continued to show us support and provided helpful advice, and contacts making us feel secure in our decision and not quite so insane.
